About Doug Neubauer

I am a Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Consultant and Web Designer/Developer.

I have been doing Web design since the nineties, and professionally, in conjunction with WallaceCreative, Search Engine Optimization and Web Design/Development, since 2008.

I have a background in various Web programming languages:

• HTML, xHTML, CSS
• PHP, MySQL
• Javascript, JQuery

As well as, C/C++ and Verilog.

Originally from Portland Oregon, I graduated from Oregon State University majoring in Electrical Engineering and spent a number of years working in Silicon Valley as a Chip Designer, Systems Architect and Game Developer.

As time permits, I am a Volunteer/Build Instructor at FreeGeek.org. FreeGeek is a non-profit community organization here in Portland Oregon that recycles and refurbishes used technology. Donated older computers are recycled but newer computers are refurbished and reinstalled with Ubuntu Linux. These computers are then “granted” to schools or charitable organizations or given free to volunteers.

I am also the creator of the classic Atari video games “Star Raiders” and “Solaris“.

FAQ No. 1

Q. How do you pronounce “Neubauer“?

A. I was taught: “New·bow·er” with the accent on “New”.

And after a quick Google search… It looks like in America it’s pronounced “New·bow·er”, and in Germany or Austria it’s “Noi·bow·ar” or “Nie·bow·er” or Noy·bow·er.

Some Technical Details about this Site

This site is designed in Wordpress.

The Wordpress theme being used is called DeepestBlue.

For those not familiar with Wordpress Themes, the “Theme” consists of various templates and software that defines the “look and feel” of the website.

In addition to DeepestBlue, I use another template, that I designed, called “WikiLike” for the technical portions of the site, such as FDTD Index Page. Articles are written in WikiLanguage and are processed with the WikiLike Plugin (see below), which converts the WikiLanguage pages to html and automatically publishes the articles into WordPress.

Equations are written in LaTex Language and processed by the WikiLike Plugin which automatically calls LaTex to convert the equations into .png images.

The WikiLike Plugin will also automatically generate a table of contents for each page and cross reference equations across pages. The Plugin also generates a sitemap.xml file.

In fact, essentially all of this site is written in WikiLanguage and the WikiLike plugin is directed to either use the DeepestBlue templates or the WikiLike templates for each article.
