Google Local now Google Places

A Google by any other name.
Google’s local search, which used to be called, naturally enough, “Google Local” is now called “Google Places”
The link to Google places is: http://google.com/places
Google Local Places is where “Local” Businesses can submit data about their company. Google then uses this data to decide if the business is included in the “7-Pack” when a user submits a search with a “geo-targeted” keyword such as: Portland Dentist. (see below)
The “7 pack” is where a local business wants to be as it’s usually the first thing a searcher will look at. Google Local
